South Indian actress Jyothirmayi, who along with husband Nishanth Kumar had filed for divorce has been granted divorce by a family court at Ernakulam on Saturday. The divorce was granted after all possible efforts for reconciliation through counselling failed.
Jyothirmayi's marriage with Nishanth Kumar lasted only for seven years. The couple who have been childhood friends got married on September 6, 2004. However, their relationship strained when Jyothirmayi began acting in other regional languages in glamorous avatar.
Jyothirmayi along with her husband Nishant filed a joint petition at Ernakulam family court and the divorce was granted by judge Joseph Thekkey Kuruvinal. The actress, who has acted in films like Thalai Nagaram, Nan Avan Illai and Vedigundu Murugesan wants to henceforth concentrate on acting.
