Now Vidya Balan seems to be in for the same with The Dirty Picture. We’re talking about putting on the pounds.
Ever since her look in The Dirty Picture has been revealed, Vidya has been feeling extremely unsure about how audiences will respond to her “excess baggage”.
But after attending an event in Pune, Vidya has reason to feel a little more confident. “Vidya was mobbed by a crowd of appreciative fans, all of whom were telling her just how much they loved her avatar as Silk Smitha,” says a witness. “She seemed quite overwhelmed.”
Vidya’s spokesperson confirmed that the actress is feeling more sure of her new look now: “Vidya has always been very pragmatic about where her strengths lie. She knows she’s popular because of her acting skills, and not because she has sex appeal. So this appreciation is definitely a good thing.”
But will the appreciation be universal?
